IAPA Leadership Collaborative

The IAPA Leadership Collaborative is a subgroup within the Illinois Academy of PAs, designed specifically for PA leaders in roles such as team leads, managers, or higher. It provides a space for PA leaders to connect, share insights, and discuss the unique challenges faced in leadership positions within healthcare.

Who is eligible to join?

Membership is limited to active IAPA members who serve in PA leadership roles. This includes team leads, managers, directors, and others in senior leadership positions. If you meet these criteria and are interested in joining, we encourage you to participate.

How do I become a member?

Membership is currently invitation-based. However, if you are eligible, you can request to join by reaching out to the IAPA or by being referred by a current member of the Leadership Collaborative.

What is the purpose of the Leadership Collaborative?

The Leadership Collaborative exists to:

  • Provide a forum for PA leaders to discuss leadership-specific issues.

  • Share best practices in team management, operational challenges, and leadership development.

  • Collaborate on initiatives that promote the advancement of PAs in leadership roles within the healthcare system.

What kind of events and meetings can I expect?

The Leadership Collaborative will host:

  • Quarterly Virtual Meetings: These meetings will cover leadership topics, offer case studies, and feature guest speakers.

  • Annual Leadership Summit: An in-person or hybrid event where PA leaders can network, attend workshops, and hear from thought leaders in healthcare leadership.

  • Ongoing Discussions: Members will have access to an online forum for continuous discussions and idea sharing.

How will we stay connected outside of meetings?

We will establish an online communication platform, such as a private forum or Slack group, where members can engage with each other in real-time. Additionally, a quarterly newsletter will be shared with updates, leadership articles, and spotlights on members.

What topics will be covered in the Collaborative?

We aim to address a range of leadership-focused topics, including:

  • Advocacy & Policy: How healthcare policies impact PA leadership roles.

  • Operational Challenges: Tips and strategies for managing PA teams, improving workflows, and enhancing patient care.

  • Career Development: Mentorship opportunities, leadership training, and strategies for career growth in healthcare administration.

Can members collaborate on projects?

Yes! Members are encouraged to collaborate on white papers, share best practices, and contribute to research on key leadership topics. The collaborative may also explore mentorship programs to support the development of emerging PA leaders.

How will the group measure success?

We will measure success by:

  • Engagement Levels: Tracking participation in meetings and the online forum.

  • Feedback: Regular surveys will be distributed to assess member satisfaction and gather suggestions for improvement.

  • Collaborative Projects: Success will also be measured by the completion of leadership research projects, white papers, and other group initiatives.

What if I know someone else who might be interested in joining?

If you know another PA leader who could benefit from this collaborative, feel free to refer them. They can contact us directly to learn more about the group and apply for membership if they meet the criteria.

How do I stay updated on meeting times and events?

Members will be kept informed through regular email updates and calendar invitations. For the introductory meeting, please be sure to vote for your preferred meeting time using our [Calendar Poll Link].
